13th Colony Distillery Wins Top Award, Double Platinum at the 2023 Ascot Awards

Americus, GA – May 2023 – It seems fitting for 13th Colony Double Oak Bourbon to take home the top award, Double Platinum at the 2023 Ascot Awards. With double the flavor, this limited release bourbon has made a splash with whiskey enthusiasts and has been named by many as The Best Bourbon of 2022.

Competing with over 1,100 entries, 13th Colony Double Oak was recognized with only 62 total bourbons from across the globe as Double Platinum. Proud to represent local Georgia Spirits on an international level, 13th Colony is the only Georgia bourbon recognized in the Small Batch Bourbon category with this top award.

The judges tasting notes described it as having:

“A generous dose of nutmeg spice and oak meets coconut, vanilla, and leather, with a finish that’s spicy, gently drying, and quite nice.”

Bottled at cask strength and uniquely matured in separate, charred oak barrels to extract additional soft, sweet oak character. Finished with toasted maple wood, this bourbon packs a punch at 135.3 proof but is luxuriously smooth on the palate. This is 13th Colony in its purest form.

The American Spirits Council of Tasters, founded by world-renowned spirits authority Fred Minnick, is the premier international spirits competition recognizing top selections from across the globe. Across three weeks, 43 seasoned spirits judges participated in a blind-tasting experience. Scores from all judges were tallied to determine winners for the Double Platinum, Platinum, Gold and Honorable Mention categories.
