13th Colony Enters Alaskan Market

13th Colony Distilleries will make its debut in Alaska through a new partnership with Avalanche Spirits, expanding the craft distillery’s distribution into the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The move reflects continued consumer interest in the distillery’s portfolio, which combines traditional methods with a distinctive South Georgia aging environment.

“At 13th Colony, our mission has always been to savor life’s moments with family, friends and spirits that are worth drinking slow,” said Maxwell Darby, president of 13th Colony. “As more whiskey fans discover our spirits, we’ve seen strong demand for both our everyday whiskeys and our limited releases, and we’re excited to bring that South Georgia whiskey experience to enthusiasts in Alaska.”

13th Colony’s bourbons and whiskeys benefit from South Georgia’s natural heat cycles, temperature swings and year-round humidity, which help shape the character of the distillery’s spirits. Each barrel is tasted by the distillery’s master distiller, with carefully selected barrels blended to achieve the flavor profile that defines every batch.

What products will be available in Alaska?

Retailers will carry 13th Colony’s core aged spirits and select specialty releases. Everyday spirits include Southern Bourbon Whiskey, bottled at 95 proof with a smooth, balanced flavor and slightly sweet finish; 113 Bourbon Finished With Maple Wood Spirals, in which maple wood spirals are added during aging to complement the bourbon’s natural character; and Southern Rye Whiskey, known for its balance of sweet and spice and its toasted French oak spiral finish. Alaskans can also find the distillery’s 2026 Cask Strength Southern Bourbon in stores. Cask Strength Southern Bourbon is an uncut version of the distillery’s flagship bourbon whiskey in a 120.82 proof, released as a limited-edition spirit for a third consecutive year.  

13th Colony has earned numerous industry honors for its aged spirits, including SIP Awards Double Gold, Wine Enthusiast Best Bourbon Under $50, Ascot Awards Double Platinum and Beverage Tasting Institute scores in the 90s.
