13th Colony Releases 2025 Cask Strength Southern Bourbon

For the second year in a row, 13th Colony is launching a limited-edition Cask Strength Southern Bourbon, bringing 13th Colony whiskey enthusiasts an uncut version of its flagship bourbon whiskey. The 2025 Cask Strength Southern Bourbon will be available in mid-May in 13 states, reflecting 13th Colony’s goal to make its spirits available to more fans. 

“The response to last year’s release of an uncut version of our Southern Bourbon was phenomenal, and we knew we had to bring back this Cask Strength special release in 2025 – and bring it back bigger by doubling last year’s production and distributing in more states than last year,” said Maxwell Darby, president of 13th Colony Distilleries, which is located in Americus, Georgia, where the region’s high temperature swings and steady humidity are perfect for naturally aging bourbon. “We taste every barrel before it goes into a batch, and these Southern Bourbon barrels were selected for their robust flavor that lives up to our philosophy that 13th Colony whiskeys are so good, they’re worth drinking slow. We can’t wait for fans to try it.” 

Aged to taste, not just time, each barrel of Cask Strength Southern Bourbon was aged between four to six years. The craft distillery’s 2025 Cask Strength Southern Bourbon has defined tasting notes with a nose that’s hazelnut, sweet Georgia corn, cherry syrup, smoked oak, sweet leather and fresh-cut herbs. It’s sweet up front with cherry pie filling and warm angel food cake. Its medium finish changes from buttery maple to craft root beer and candy shop licorice ropes. 

With a mash bill that’s 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, each barrel was hand-selected and this cask strength batch came in at 120.65 proof. 13th Colony Cask Strength Southern Bourbon has an MSRP of $89.99-$99.99.

13th Colony’s 2025 Cask Strength Southern Bourbon will be available in 13 states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. It’s also available through select online retailers.
