Distillery Expands New England Footprint
March 23, 2026

13th Colony Distilleries will bring its award-winning bourbons and whiskeys to Massachusetts and Rhode Island this spring, expanding its New England presence and bringing unique pour experiences to craft spirits fans. The expansion reflects growing demand for the South Georgia distillery’s core offerings and limited releases as the brand continues to build momentum across the country.
M.S. Walker will distribute 13th Colony’s flagship bourbons and whiskeys in both states, introducing retailers and whiskey enthusiasts in those areas to the distillery’s small-batch spirits and its philosophy of creating pours that are worth drinking slow.
“At 13th Colony, our mission has always been to savor life’s moments with family, friends and spirits that are worth drinking slow,” said Maxwell Darby, president of 13th Colony, which is Georgia’s oldest-operating distillery since Prohibition. “As more retailers and whiskey fans discover our spirits, we’ve seen strong demand for both our everyday whiskeys and our limited releases. We’re excited to bring that experience to our fans in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.”
13th Colony’s bourbons and whiskeys benefit from South Georgia’s natural heat cycles, high-temperature swings and year-round humidity, which help shape the character of the distillery’s spirits. Each barrel is tasted by the distillery’s master distiller, with carefully selected barrels blended to achieve the flavor profile that defines every batch.
What are 13th Colony’s core whiskeys and bourbons?
Retailers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island will carry 13th Colony’s core aged spirits and one specialty release: Southern Bourbon Whiskey, an award-winning spirit bottled at 95 proof with a smooth, balanced flavor and slightly sweet finish; 113 Bourbon Finished With Maple Wood Spirals – a specialty release that was made an everyday spirit in late 2025 due to popular demand – in which maple wood spirals are added to the bourbon barrels while the whiskey ages, allowing the bourbon flavor to shine with a subtle hint of sweetness on the finish; Southern Rye Whiskey, known for its balance of sweet and spice and its distinctive toasted French oak spiral finish; and, a limited amount of the distillery’s specialty release, 113 Rye Whiskey Finished With Maple Wood Spirals.
13th Colony has earned numerous industry honors for its aged spirits, including SIP Awards Double Gold, Wine Enthusiast Best Bourbon Under $50, Ascot Awards Double Platinum and Beverage Tasting Institute scores in the 90s.
