Distillery Grows To Three New Markets
August 11, 2025

13th Colony Distilleries will bring its aged and clear spirits to craft distillery fans in Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C., beginning later this month, growing the Southwest Georgia distillery’s distribution footprint to 16 states plus the District of Columbia.
Opici Family Distributing will distribute 13th Colony’s flagship bourbon, whiskey, gin and vodka, along with the just-released Cask Strength Southern Rye Whiskey in the new markets, introducing the region’s whiskey enthusiasts to the distillery’s unique spirits and its appreciation for making ordinary experiences extraordinary.
“At 13th Colony, our mission has always been to savor life’s moments with family, friends, and spirits that are worth drinking slow,” said Maxwell Darby, president of 13th Colony, which was founded in Americus, Georgia, in 2009. “We’ve grown our distribution footprint by 60% this year while staying true to those roots. We can’t wait to share that philosophy with whiskey enthusiasts in Delaware, Maryland and D.C. and deliver exceptional quality and bold flavor in every bottle of our small-batch spirits.”
Craft distillery 13th Colony benefits from Southwest Georgia’s natural heat cycles, high-temperature swings, and ideal year-round humidity, which help age award-winning spirits. And, the master distiller tastes every barrel of whiskey to ensure it meets the distillery’s high standards, blending 4-, 5-, and 6-year-old barrels into each batch for a perfect balance of flavor. As a result, the distillery’s bourbons and whiskeys have been recognized year after year with awards including SIP Awards Double Gold, Wine Enthusiast Best Bourbon Under $50, Ascot Award Double Platinum, Beverage Tasting Institute 93 Points and more.
Core products include Southern Bourbon Whiskey, a multiple award-winning aged spirit. Bottled at 95 proof, it has a well-rounded flavor with a slightly sweet finish. At a price point under $50, it’s the perfect daily sipper. The award-winning 13th Colony Southern Rye Whiskey walks the line between sweet and spicy, drawing its character from the unique toasted French Oak Spiral Finish. At 95 proof and aged between four to six years, Southern Rye Whiskey is an exceptional value under $50.
13th Colony Southern Vodka is a platinum-award-winning spirit handcrafted in small batches using water from Georgia’s oldest aquifer. This 80-proof offering is six times distilled and 11 times filtered, resulting in a clean and sophisticated taste at an incredibly approachable price under $15. Completing the list of consumer favorites, Southern Gin is a citrus-forward contemporary gin with a clean, crisp taste. At 82.4 proof, Southern Gin is six times distilled in a state-of-the-art column still and 10 times filtered, delivering a light flavor of juniper and essence of citrus that makes it perfect for cocktails, for under $15.
The new distribution markets also will enjoy 13th Colony’s soon-to-launch Cask Strength Southern Rye, the distillery’s flagship Southern Rye Whiskey bottled at cask strength in a small batch. A limited-edition release, Cask Strength Rye will be available to limited retailers. Rye Whiskey enthusiasts in these mid-Atlantic states should contact their favorite local 13th Colony retailer to confirm distribution.
With the addition of Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C., 13th Colony is now available in 17 markets: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia with online retail through Seelbach’s and Bourbon Outfitter.
